IT professionals have not been spared the negative effects of the economic recession causing many to wonder how they can stay competitive when jobs are scarce. The SED-IT Consortium, a U.S.-based EXIN Partner and innovator in IT business solutions, has begun the Headway program to provide a fast-tracked, subsidized advancement training program at a substantially reduced cost to unemployed IT professionals. The University of Dallas, itSMF USA, SED-IT Consortium, New Horizons of MN, Optimize!, Van Haren Publishing, True Solutions Inc., Process Catalyst Solutions and EXIN are all collaborating to provide the necessary training and certification resources for this initiative.
Headway benefitsHeadway provides a quick and cost-effective path to ITIL Expert. The courses currently offered are ITIL V3 Foundation, ITIL V2 Service Manager prep class, ITIL V2 Service Manager, ITIL V3 Manager Bridge, The Ultimate PMP Exam Prep Course, and The Ultimate CAPM Exam Prep Course. In the future, the Headway program will expand to include ITIL V3 Intermediate, ISO/IEC 20000 and MOF. The Headway Web site has details of what is included in each course. All Headway students will receive three months membership to itSMF USA.
Jeanette Smith, One-3-Right, member of the SED-IT Consortium is putting her years of experience in global consulting and training to use in coordinating this project:“The program came about after we found that unemployed people were applying for jobs but were losing out due to lack of ITIL or Project Management certification. They were then in a catch 22 situation as they could not afford to take the training needed to increase their employment opportunities due to the fact they were unemployed. We strongly felt the ITSM industry had an obligation to assist and set about creating the program. We were delighted to find that when we approached organizations, EXIN especially, they felt the same way and hopped on board with enthusiasm and vigor,” said Smith.
SED-IT ConsortiumSED-IT Consortium is an international consortium of IT professionals who are experienced in finding creative solutions such as the Headway program. SED-IT professionals help organizations with training, integrating industry best practice standards based on ITIL or implementing an organizational IT framework.
